Explaining autism to children can be a difficult task. This heart-warming portrayal of an autistic boy and his family will help children and their parents understand this serious developmental disorder. An introduction for parents and a list of resources supply further information. In addition, as they enjoy and identify with the family photographs so similar to their own, children will develop greater sympathy for those who may be different from themselves.

"A wonderful book for children and families…This book is the model…for children who have handicapping conditions that are not obvious on the basis of physical deformity."
—Bennett L. Leventhal, M.D.

"Very well done and well illustrated…a valuable contribution."
—Bernard Rimland, Ph.D.
Director, Autism Research Institute

"A sensitive, realistic portrayal of a serious developmental disorder and the impact of this disorder on the siblings. The simple, straightforward description of Russell combined with the photographs is touching. This book should appeal to persons of all ages."
—Journal of Pediatric Psychology

"Charles Amenta and his family have together created a look into their lives where, in a few short moments, we experience a vast amount about autism. The Amentas have not only given Russell a place in their family, but with their book they have given all the Russells a place in the world."
