ABOUT THIS BOOK
Claudia's bathtub has a great big heart. He has longed for the day when children can splash and play in him, so when Claudia picks him out at the bathtub shop, he is overjoyed! From the day he arrives at Claudia's home, she is dreaming up a different bathtime adventure, every night, serving tea to the Prince of Wales or rocketing to the moon. But one day Claudia suddenly decides that she is through with baths. She will never take another, thank you very much. And as the days go by and her poor tub stays empty and dry, his big heart grows lonelier and lonelier…

The Very Lonely Bathtub offers a witty and whimsical look at the normal obstinacy that most parents face, in one form or another, when their children quest for independence.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Ann Rasmussen, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist in private practice, specializing in children and families. She lives in Virginia with her husband, three children, and a very water-loving chocolate Labrador named Cadbury, who when given half a chance doesn't hesitate to join other bathers in the tub.

Marc Nemiroff, Ph.D., serves on the faculty of the Washington School of Psychiatry and the clinical faculty of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition, he maintains a private practice for the treatment of children. His extensive experience with children, both personal and professional, has led him to envision not only lonely bathtubs but also empty school buses, too-dry toothbrushes, and socks who have lost their feet.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Kate Flanagan lives in an old house in New Haven, Connecticut, with her husband, three children, one cat, a number of fire-bellied toads, and two never-lonely bathtubs. She eared a degree in fine arts from Tufts University, and worked with children's literature as a book reviewer and assistant editor before devoting her career exclusively to illustration. When she is not a her drawing table, she often can be found sewing a patchwork quilt or playing softball or ice hockey.
